發燒喉嚨痛不輕忽，恐為危急重症「急性會厭炎」
「啃老族」要錢惡言相向 算家暴
因文化差異，許多華裔民眾在遇到家暴後，常選擇保持沉默，致使追訴期過，日後也難以求公道。為改變這一現象，布碌崙班森賀轄區62分局31日聯合華人社區服務中心，在O大道介紹家暴相關知識。兩名專管家庭暴力的警員指出，除了肢體暴力外，言語暴力，一些家庭中的晚輩者成了「啃老族」，惡言逼迫，向家長要錢，也屬家暴的一種。
62分局社區協調警員(NCO)信諾森(Jean Innocent)、馬庭茲(Jelinson Martinez)、以及兩位專門處理家暴的警員伊莎貝(Elsawaby)和布澈力(Buchelli)，31日出席警民會議，向民眾普及如何處理家暴的相關知識。伊莎貝表示，除了肢體暴力外，家庭成員的言語暴力也屬家暴的一種，「持續貶低他人，用金錢、其他物質或身分威脅，都屬於家暴」。
伊莎貝回答與會人士的提問時指出，一些不願工作的「啃老族」向長輩要錢時惡言相向，同樣算家暴。經歷相似情形的民眾可撥打311或當地分局家暴部門電話尋求幫助，再通過家事法庭解決問題。相關市府熱線提供多語言服務，62分局防家暴組電話為(718)236-2774；如果情況緊急，如發生肢體衝突等，請撥打911。
華人社區服務中心主任羅添福表示，因文化上的差異和誤區，許多華裔家暴受害者面對家暴時往往保持沉默，致使可調查追訴時間逾期，使悲劇一再發生。他舉例說，多年前一位華裔丈夫因工作不順，常常毆打妻子，並對妻子宣稱若她敢報警，就永遠不能再回家，妻子不斷遭受丈夫虐待達數年之久。
對此布澈力表示，該案中丈夫對妻子施暴已觸犯法律；而在紐約市，只要任何居民在特定空間居住超過30天，就不能被趕走。他說，若暴力事件發生時，距報案超過兩年，執法人員難以調查舉證，因此呼籲類似受害者早日報警。
信諾森表示，若受害者因家暴恐慌，可聯繫轄區內的社區協調警員協助前往警局。他指出，警方介入後，受害者可向法官申請保護令，讓施暴者不能再靠近受害人。不過他也提醒民眾，法官將視家暴的嚴重性而設定保護令時限，受害者可在保護令過期前向法院申請延期。
